Artist’s Statement
Concepts from our worlds within
We are constantly considering ideas, thoughts and concepts through our mind. These include words, pictures, logical concepts, figures or directions. Then there are the concepts we try to grasp which belong to the worlds within ourselves. These can be subjects which are deeply spiritual or concepts which are hard to visualise and therefore hard to grasp.
As an artist I work at bringing thoughts, abstract ideas and spiritual concepts into pictures we can see and easily understand. The concepts covered include: dreams, life’s journey, our inner selves, soul, contemplation, death and consciousness.
On seeing the work people have said “I can now see the thoughts I’ve been thinking and the pictures have confirmed my thoughts are real”.
If people can get a better understanding of a deep or spiritual concept by seeing my work, then it has been worth my time producing it.
Medium
My current medium is painting using a computer (digital art). I use a combination of photographs and painting to produce my pictures. The use of photographs and realistic imagery help the audience grasp the concepts easily. They don’t have to work out any visual language, as may occur if I used acrylics or watercolours, and they can devote the time viewing a picture to seeing the story or concept it presents.
My goal is to give people an insight into their ‘life within’ and show them a brighter side where they can find hope, understanding and love.
The work is generally produced as limited edition professional archival photographic prints in 5 different sizes, A4 to A0 approx., with just 100 prints available in each size.
